Frequently Asked Questions
What is reflexology?
The type of reflexology I apply is very gentle. All over our body, there are reflex points that refer to all of our body systems, yes, all of them (amazing). Our feet, hands, face, back, ears, and scalp all carry reflex points. When these reflex points are stimulated by different techniques such as walking, sliding, holding, hooking, and/or tapping, there is a response in the corresponding part of the body stimulated. When stimulated gently, this relaxes the nervous system, increases circulation, which in turn, delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the body. This helps the body systems function optimally. While reflexology is not massage, there are techniques employed to assist with relaxation and harmony of both sides of the brain.
Is reflexology painful?
There are different types of reflexology offered in the United States. The type of reflexology I use is gentle. My goal is to calm the nervous system so that I am able to stimulate body systems based on individual goals. Sometimes, when reflex points are stimulated, it may cause pain at the reflex point itself or on the body. An emotional release or a traumatic memory may surface that can be “painful” to the client. When this happens, I normally discuss with the client the area I am working on, and together we process what may be going on in the body. There are also different holds that I use to decrease the pain when it is presented or to reduce the emotional release so that clients may release the emotion.

How is reflexology beneficial?
Reflexology may be beneficial to reduce symptoms by addressing the root cause of most conditions, stress, and emotional/mental distress. This may be beneficial for: Circulation, Neuropathy, Grief, Stress Relief, MS, Sciatica, Bronchial Conditions, Migraines, Acne, Gout, Neck/Shoulder/Hip Pain, and so much more.

Are there contraindications to reflexology?
Yes. It is best to be very honest when discussing your health history before the first reflexology session, and come prepared with a list of your medications. While a contraindication may be for one specific type of reflexology, there may be a different type of reflexology session applied. For example, a contraindication for feet reflexology would be a fungal infection or rash; however, a facial reflexology session would be appropriate in that situation.

How do clients feel afterwards?
Most clients experience feeling “lighter” when finished with a session, less pain compared to when they arrived, and some clients have expressed not having a racing mind and feeling much calmer.

What should I expect during the session?
Your first session will most likely take 2 hours.
At the start of the session, you will meet with me to discuss your health history, symptoms, and goals. With this information, we will determine together the type of session that may best assist your goals.

What should I expect afterwards?
The session itself helps to circulate and flush the body, so naturally afterwards, you will urinate more on the day of the session. During the next 72 hours, the body can still process the session. Emotional releases may occur, and you may feel shifts in how the body feels. It is very rare, but it can occur where someone may feel like they have flu-like symptoms for one day.
How much does a reflexology session cost?
Depending on the type of session and the length chosen, the cost ranges from $65 - $105.
What is IET® (Integrated Energy Therapy)?
IET® provides a gentle way to open the flow of vital life force within the human body into the cellular memory at specific points on the body. This helps to rebalance and clear the energy of the body’s cellular memory and Human Energy Field by integrating feelings from cellular memory and clearing the associated energy blockages. IETÆ helps you to safely and gently release limiting energy patterns from your past, empower and balance your life in the present, and embody your full potential.
